Getting to Know Your International Contacts

Since I have had a difficult time recieving a response back from my internationtal contacts, I have choosen to complete alternate assignment.
Prior to reading this article and researching this topic I always believed that child development started in the womb and I continue to believe this theory after reading the research.  There has been insistence where during prenatal the mother endures emotional and physical abuse that it has shown to have lifelong effects on the fetus after birth. Research has shown over and over again that the unborn fetus recognizes the voice of his or her family, particularly the mother and it has often been recommended to read to the unborn fetus.  Therefore, I agree with the article and research that early childhood education should be continued at birth. Newborns should be nurtured and given social and emotional support. This support will lead to the child being confident and have a foundation for academic growth.

  1. Betty,
There’s no doubt that parents as well as caregivers, policy makers, and early childhood professionals etc. should give stimulation for baby’s social-emotional development since the baby will face the world with varied people in it. One of the primary goals of a quality program is to foster social emotional growth. If we cannot support that part of a child's development then we should question the inequtiy of who teaches early childhood education. Does having common credentials for all early childhood professionals matter? Would that make a difference in the outcomes of children's social emotional development? Do we need credentials to show we have done the courses on the issues or we need the experiences? I cannot answer the questions but the disparity of who teaches early childhood education in my opinion should not play a part in support of children's social emotional development.
    Thanks form posting!

  2. Betty,

It is amazing all of the things that can effect an unborn fetus. It is such a shame that so many people don't ever take those things into consideration. I absolutely agree that child development starts in the womb! We have a 3 month old grandson, and already the changes in his development are astonishing! Every child needs their development in all areas to be supported so that they can grow to their fullest potential!

  3. Betty,

I think it is great that there is a focus on the development of the unborn fetus, and it can educate parents. parents do not seem to realize the impact of things that can happen even before the child is born!

  4. Hello Betty,

Since I have never had the pleasure of having a baby, I am happy to know that there is a website available that provide information on child development. This website is a great source to keep for future references. Thanks!

  5. Betty, a great insight! I agree toatlly that child development begins in the womb. I know by experience. My daughter was pregnant last year and I told her to allow the baby to listen to music through in her womb by placing a head phone on her belly. When she did, it calmed the baby down. Then when the baby was born we use the same music to keep her calm. She enjoys listening to music. Therefore child development does begin in the womb.

  6. Giving a great start in the womb is so very important. But there are so many young mothers out there that still do not understand the importance. I have had a special bond with my good friends baby who is almost 2 now because while his father was away in Kwait I helped her all the time and we spent alot of time together. He always has responded to my voice since he was born.

  7. Hi Betty this sounds like a good website for a reference. It is so important for expectant mothers to take care of themselves and eat the right foods and make sure that they are taking their vitamins and iron tablets because this also has to do with the unborn development.
